Teraoka SA is looking for energetic South African youths who want a real job that teaches them how to work with heavy technology and weighing machines. The company needs people for Apprentice / Technician roles that will be based all over the country. If you’re 18‑28 years old, can drive a car, and want to learn a practical skill that pays well, this could be the job for you. The positions are full‑time and permanent, so you’ll get a steady paycheck and chances to grow inside a firm that has been around for a long time.
What the job is all about
As an Apprentice or Technician, you will be the go‑to person for fixing, installing, and keeping weighing equipment working smoothly. The equipment is used in factories, stores, and warehouses, so it’s important to keep it in top shape. You’ll spend most of your day in the field: driving to different client sites, checking that each scale reads correctly, and making sure the machines follow national safety standards. You will also handle some sales work, such as selling labels and small accessories that the customers need. Every month you’ll keep a log of what you’ve fixed, what parts you’ve ordered, and how you fixed things, so the company can see that the service was done right.
Where the jobs are
The company is hiring in these cities:
- Johannesburg
- White River
- Bloemfontein
- Randburg
- Cape Town
- Durban
- Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha)
- Polokwane
- East London
You can choose a location that’s close to where you live, or you may move to a new city if you’re excited to travel.
What you’ll do day‑to‑day
- Fix problems on the machines when a customer calls for help
- Check that each scale is accurate and lock it in place so the weight it shows is reliable
- Order parts if a component is missing or broken
- Install new software on machines so they work at fresh sites
- Keep the company’s agreements with big customers satisfied – this means showing up on time and finishing jobs correctly
- Sell labels and small tools if a customer needs them
- Perform a full check of a scale every six months to make sure it’s still working as it should
- Keep all standard Teraoka equipment in good condition
- Write reports for your branch office and the help desk to let them know what’s finished
Who should apply
You’ll need at least one of these educational backgrounds:
- Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science
- N3 with Mathematics and Physical Science
You must also:
- Be between 18 and 28 years old
- Hold a valid driver’s licence and own a car – this is required because you’ll need to drive to the customers’ places
- Have some technical experience is a plus, but it’s not mandatory. If you’re good with tools and like fixing things, you’ll do fine.
