What the opportunity is

Stellenbosch Municipality (Western Cape) is looking for 12 Learner Fire Fighters in its Community and Protection Services – Fire and Rescue Services division. The posts run for 12 months and pay between R174 899.90 and R227 049.79 per year. Reference number: FF1‑12.

Who can apply (requirements)

  • Matric (Grade 12) qualification
  • Proof of completion of an FF1 fire‑fighter course
  • Medically, physically and mentally fit – no cardiac or respiratory problems
  • Clean criminal record (verification will be required)
  • Resident of the Stellenbosch municipal area and must stay there for the whole contract
  • Proof of address and an affidavit confirming residency
  • Good interpersonal, problem‑solving and communication skills
  • Ability to speak at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape (English, Afrikaans, Xhosa)
  • No phobias related to confined spaces, heights, water, blood, darkness, isolation or corpses
  • Valid Code B driver’s licence – an added advantage

  4. Gather certified copies of your Matric certificate, FF1 course completion, proof of address and any other supporting documents.
  5. Write an affidavit confirming you will remain a resident of Stellenbosch for the contract period.
  6. Save all files as PDFs and name them clearly (e.g., “FF1‑12_YourName.pdf”).
