Stellenbosch Municipality Firefighter Learnership 2026 – Closes 13 July

The Stellenbosch Municipality Fire Fighter Learnership Programme 2026 is now open, giving you a fast‑track route into the fire‑and‑rescue sector. The deadline is 13 July 2026, so act quickly.

What the learnership is

This is a 12‑month, paid learnership with the Fire & Rescue Services Department of Stellenbosch Municipality. Twelve learner fire‑fighter positions are available in the Western Cape. You will work under supervision, gaining real‑world experience while helping keep the community safe.

Who can apply

  • Matric (Grade 12) certificate.
  • Proof of completed Fire Fighter Level 1 training.
  • Medically, physically and mentally fit.
  • No criminal record.
  • Resident of the Stellenbosch municipal area (must stay there for the duration).

What you will gain

  • Hands‑on experience in fire suppression and rescue operations.
  • Training in emergency medical assistance and fire‑prevention campaigns.
  • Knowledge of fire station duties, equipment maintenance and vehicle handling.
  • Understanding of incident response procedures and occupational safety.
  • Salary between R174 899.90 and R227 049.79 per year.

  1. Download the official Stellenbosch Municipality application form from the municipality’s website.
  2. Fill in all sections clearly and accurately.
  3. Prepare the following supporting documents:
    • Certified copy of your Grade 12 certificate.
    • Certified copy of your Fire Fighter Level 1 qualification.
    • Certified copy of your ID and proof of residence.
    • Curriculum Vitae.
    • Contactable references.
    • Any other documents listed in the advert.
  4. Compose an email to Comprotect.Jobs@stellenbosch.gov.za. In the subject line write “FF1‑12 – Learnership Application”. Attach the completed form and all supporting files.
  5. Send the email before 13 July 2026. Only email applications will be accepted.

Tips to improve your chances

  • If you have a valid Code B driver’s licence, mention it – it is an added advantage.
