NEDLAC 2026: 120 Facilitator & 120 Rapporteur posts, deadline 09 July

Right now National Economic Development and Labour Council (NEDLAC) is looking for 240 South Africans to help run the National Dialogue of South Africa – a citizen‑led project that brings communities together to discuss the country’s biggest challenges.

What the opportunity is

NEDLAC is offering short‑term contracts for two roles: Facilitator and Rapporteur. There are 120 positions for each role, making a total of 240 contracts across all provinces. The job is part of the National Dialogue, a programme that aims to collect community input for national renewal.

Who can apply

Both roles are open to South‑African citizens who are not currently employed by government at any level or sitting on the Dialogue Steering Committee.

Facilitator – 120 posts

  • Short‑term contract; R1 500 paid per dialogue.
  • Must have at least two years of recent community or sector work.
  • Proven experience leading community dialogues, workshops or public consultations.
  • Fluent in at least two official South African languages and comfortable speaking the dominant language of the assigned community.
  • Strong interpersonal, listening, conflict‑management and emotional‑intelligence skills.
  • Cultural sensitivity and a trauma‑informed approach.

Rapporteur – 120 posts

  • Short‑term contract; R2 500 paid per dialogue.
  • At least one year experience in minute‑taking, report writing, transcription or similar documentation work.
  • Excellent listening, note‑taking and written communication abilities.
  • Fluent in English and at least one other official South African language.
  • Access to a recording device for dialogues.
  • Ability to stay neutral and objective under pressure.
