If you want a learnership or apprenticeship this month, three programmes still have dates between 21 and 24 September 2026. The Dis-Chem, Eskom and Dwarsrivier learnerships listed on StudentRoom are in Gauteng, the Western Cape and Limpopo. They cover pharmacy support and artisan trades. Places are limited, so read each set of rules before you apply.
What these programmes are
These are training posts, not permanent jobs on day one. Dis-Chem offers Dispensary Support Learnerships for 2026 / 2027. Eskom offers 12 Learner Artisan / Apprenticeship posts at Matimba Power Station. Dwarsrivier Chrome Mine offers an Electrician Learnership (18.1).
Closing dates are 21 September 2026 for selected Dis-Chem Gauteng stores and for Eskom, and 24 September 2026 for Dwarsrivier.
1. Dis-Chem Dispensary Support Learnerships 2026 / 2027
Dis-Chem Pharmacies invites young South Africans who want to start in a pharmacy. Selected posts close on 21 September 2026. Locations include Gauteng and the Western Cape.
You train towards becoming a Basic Pharmacist Assistant. Successful applicants start on a fixed-term contract as Dispensary Support employees while working towards registration with the South African Pharmacy Council as learner basic pharmacist assistants.

2. Eskom Matimba Power Station Learner Artisan Apprenticeships 2026 – 12 posts
Eskom invites suitably qualified South African youth to apply for 12 posts at Matimba Power Station, Lephalale, Limpopo. Closing date: 21 September 2026.
You receive institutional training and practical on-the-job work in Eskom’s technical operations. Trades include Electrical, Instrumentation, Fitter, Fitter and Turner, Boilermaker, Welder, Plumber, Carpenter, Rigger, Civil, Millwright and Bricklaying.
You must be a South African citizen. You need Grade 12 plus an N3, N4, N5 or N6 Certificate in a relevant trade, with at least 50% in Mathematics and Science, or an NCV Level 4 in a relevant trade with at least 50% in Mathematics and Science. 3. Dwarsrivier Chrome Mine Electrician Learnership 2026
Dwarsrivier Chrome Mine invites suitably qualified South African candidates for an entry-level Electrician Learnership (18.1) in Human Resources Development. Closing date: 24 September 2026. Location: Burgersfort, Limpopo.
You need Grade 12, Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy, and the ability to meet medical-fitness rules. Shortlisted people may do psychometric and other assessments. Successful candidates must be declared medically fit under the Mine Health and Safety Act.
Attach certified qualifications, certificates and licences where they apply. The advert says documents should be certified by the South African Police Service. Who can apply
Requirements differ. Dis-Chem is for people who want pharmacy support training. Eskom needs Grade 12 plus a relevant N3–N6 or NCV Level 4, with at least 50% in Maths and Science. Dwarsrivier needs Grade 12 and Maths or Maths Literacy, plus medical fitness.
MISA posts closing on 28 September and Senwes Grainlink Learnerships closing on 30 September fall outside the 19–25 September window, so they are not in this list.
What you can gain
You can gain structured workplace training, a path toward Pharmacy Council registration, or artisan skills in a power station or mine. You are not promised a permanent job at the end. Competition is high.

Apply only online on each organisation’s official page. Pick the correct Dis-Chem store, the Eskom Matimba advert, or the Dwarsrivier recruitment form. Do not mix the three applications.

Tips that can improve your application
Many applicants struggle when they apply to the wrong store or skip Maths and Science marks. Read the trade or pharmacy rule twice. Prepare certified copies early. For Dwarsrivier, follow the SAPS certification instruction in the advert.
Submit the online form and wait for a confirmation screen. Do not leave it for the last hour on closing day.
