Do you want real work experience in government while you finish your degree? The Gauteng Provincial Treasury is offering 14 paid internships in Johannesburg that start this year, and the deadline is fast approaching.

What the internship programme is

The Treasury will run a 24‑month, fixed‑term internship from 2026 to 2028. It is based in Johannesburg and pays a yearly stipend of R98 097 (about R8 174 per month). The programme covers several directorates: ICT, Communications, Finance, Human Resources, Compliance and Internal Audit.

Who can apply

You must be a South African citizen with a NQF Level 6 or 7 qualification that matches the internship field. Below are the nine fields, reference numbers and how many places are available.

  • Communications – Photography & Videography – REFS/055930 – 1 position

  • Financial Automation Management System – REFS/055943 – 1 position
  • Financial Information Management System – REFS/055932 – 3 positions
  • Human Resource Management System – REFS/055934 – 1 position
  • Compliance – Norms and Standards – REFS/055936 – 1 position
  • Internal Audit Committees – REFS/055937 – 1 position

Key qualification examples

  • ICT: IT, Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Development, Networking (NQF 6‑7)
  • Animation & Design: National Diploma or 1‑2‑year certificate in 3D animation, motion graphics, graphic design, UI/UX
  • Photography & Videography: National Diploma or 1‑2‑year certificate in photography, videography or video editing
  • Audio Engineering: National Diploma or 1‑2‑year certificate in audio engineering or sound production
  • Finance systems: Diploma or degree in Finance, Financial Information Systems or IT
  • Financial information management: BSc in Mathematical Statistics, BCom, BSc Business Information Systems or IT qualification
  • HR: Diploma or degree in Human Resource Management, Development or Public Administration (HR focus)
  • Compliance: Degree in Law, Public Management, Business Administration or related field
  • Internal Audit: Degree in Business Administration, Office Administration, Public Administration or Public Management

  4. Read the full job description to confirm you meet the qualification.
  5. Download the new Z83 application form from any public‑service department or the Department of Public Service and Administration website.
  6. Complete the Z83 form, sign and date it, and write the correct reference number.
  7. Prepare a current CV that includes:
    • All work or project experience with start‑ and end‑month/year
    • Three referees (name, phone, email, and relationship)
  8. Upload the signed Z83 form and your CV on the portal.
  9. Double‑check that the correct reference number is selected.
  10. Submit the application before 18 August 2026 at 00:00.
