What the opportunity is
eThekwini Municipality, KwaZulu‑Natal, is running two parallel programmes:
- Internship Programme 2026/2027 – structured workplace learning in many municipal departments.
- Smart Solar System Training Development Programme 2026 – a three‑month course that teaches you how to install home energy‑management systems.
Who can apply
Internship Programme
Open to South African citizens who have no prior work experience and meet one of the following:
- TVET graduates with an N6 qualification (placement for 18 months).
- University graduates (placement for up to 24 months).
- Unemployed youth who need workplace exposure.
Smart Solar Training Programme
Eligible applicants must:
- Hold a Technical Matric or N3 Technical Matric with Electrical and/or Plumbing subjects.
- Be 18–35 years old.
- Live within eThekwini Municipality (proof of residence required).
- Have a Code 8 or Code 10 driver’s licence.
- Be unemployed and physically fit for manual work, including heights and confined spaces.
- Be able to read, write and follow instructions in English and use a smartphone for reporting.
- Not have completed a similar training programme before.
