Your main mission is to help CGS follow the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its related rules. While you learn, you’ll become a real part of the team that keeps the council’s work environment safe and healthy.
What You’ll Do
You’ll get a chance to see what happens behind the scenes and help the office stay on top of its safety game. Some of your everyday tasks will include:
- Helping to put together and run safety plans for the workplace.
- Keeping records about health and safety measures.
- Taking part in checks that make sure everything runs correctly.
- Watching how people use protective gear and making sure it’s done properly.
- Working on risk assessments and looking for ways to reduce danger.
- Helping to set up rules and steps that stop problems before they happen.
- Building good relationships with people inside and outside the office.
- Joining workshops and training sessions that teach more about safety.
- Giving administrative support whenever it’s needed.
All of this will be done with the guidance of experienced CGS safety professionals who will show you the ropes.
What You Need
Basic qualifications – You must have finished Grade 12 and a National Diploma at level 6. It’s a plus if your diploma is about Occupational Health and Safety or a similar field, and having a degree will give you extra weight.
Skills you should bring –
- You’re friendly and enjoy working with others.
- You’re ready to learn new things every day.
- You’re comfortable using Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Your English is good enough to write reports and chat with teammates.
