Coega Internship Programme 2026 – Your First Step Into a Real Job
If you’re a recent graduate who still needs some real‑world experience, the Coega Development Corporation (CDC) has a job that could be a perfect fit. They’re looking for students who haven’t yet worked in their field, and they’re offering a two‑year internship that will teach you what it takes to succeed in a big South African company. The program starts soon, and it runs in two cities – Gqeberha on the east coast and Pretoria in the north.
What the Internship Is All About
The Coega Internship Programme is a 24‑month learning plan that bridges school and the workplace. You’ll work on real projects, learn from experienced mentors, and see how a major development organization operates. The program is open to students from a range of subjects, so you’ll find a place that matches your degree.
You can choose to work in one of several business units:
- Operations in Gqeberha
- Business Development in Gqeberha
- ICT, Research and Strategy in Gqeberha
- Compliance in Gqeberha
- Tshwane Programme in Pretoria
Each unit has its own set of required qualifications. For example, the Operations unit needs a National Diploma in Project Management, while the ICT unit wants a National Diploma in Business Management or an Honours degree in Economics. The Tshwane Programme and Compliance units share similar diploma requirements in Office Administration, Public Administration, or Business Administration.
Who Can Apply?
You need to meet a few basic rules:
- You must have a Diploma (NQF Level 6), a Degree (NQF Level 7), or an Honours Degree (NQF Level 8).
- You must be under 35 years old.
- You should have no paid experience in your field yet.
- You’re ready to stay for the entire two years.
- You want to learn, work hard, and show professional behaviour.
