Financial Management Internship – Laingsburg Municipality, 2026

The Laingsburg Municipality is looking for unemployed graduates from South Africa to join the Financial Management Internship Programme for 2026. The internship will be in the Department of Financial and Compliance Services in Laingsburg, Western Cape, and will give you hands‑on experience in city finance.

What the Internship Involves

During the programme you will help with many parts of city budgeting and accounting. Some of the tasks you’ll do are:

  • Follow the rules for financial reporting (GRAP) and budget procedures.
  • Build reports that show how money is spent and earned.
  • Put together budgets, financial statements, and reports for managers.
  • Work on policies that guide how the city handles its money.
  • Check accounts and do analysis to spot errors or opportunities.
  • Enter and keep track of financial data in computers.
  • Learn about city assets and insurance.
  • Help manage the city’s revenue and spending.
  • Support supply‑chain spending and the purchase of goods and services.
  • Move around different departments so you see how the whole city runs.
  • Carry out other finance‑related office work as needed.

The programme is a practical way to start a career in public sector finance.


Who Should Apply?

You need to meet a few simple minimum requirements:

  1. Education:
    • A BCom, National Diploma, or a similar degree – preferably in Accounting.
  2. Language:
    • Speak and write well in Afrikaans and English.
  3. Tech skills:
    • Comfortable using Microsoft Word and Excel.
  4. Professional attitude:
    • Able to work in a formal public‑sector environment.
