  4. Have a Matric average of at least 60 %.
  5. Be starting your first year of full‑time university in 2026 in one of the approved fields.
  6. Be accepted or already accepted at a recognized South African university.
  7. Your household income must be R350 000 or less per year.
  8. You must not already be getting another bursary.
  9. If your family is on the indigent list, you will get priority.
  10. Preference is also given to students who go to a university close to home, followed by those at Potchefstroom, Mahikeng and other Gauteng schools.

What paperwork do you need?

You must send official copies of the following documents:

  • ID document (passport or ID book).
  • Matric certificate or a statement showing your results.
  • A letter from the university that shows you are admitted, how long the program will take, the subject, and how much tuition costs.
  • A letter from your high school that says you finished there.
  • A utility bill that proves you live in Emfuleni (the bill must be certified).
  • Proof of your parents’ or guardians’ income – recent payslips or an affidavit if they are not working.
  • Proof that you are on the indigent list, if you are.

If any of these is missing, your application could be cancelled.
