What is the UJ AI Hub Experiential Learner Internship?

The University of Johannesburg’s AI Hub, part of the Johannesburg Business School’s Centre for Entrepreneurship, is a hub for cutting‑edge research and training in AI, machine learning, data science, cybersecurity and other emerging digital technologies. This internship lets you join that ecosystem and work on live prototypes, data analysis, and research that could influence South Africa’s digital economy.

Who Should Apply?

  • Graduates holding an NQF Level 7 degree (Bachelor’s) in a computing‑related field: Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, AI, Machine Learning, Cybersecurity, Robotics, or similar.
  • Those with a comparable qualification in a digital‑technology field.
  • Applicants must be able to demonstrate knowledge of programming fundamentals, algorithms, databases, AI or ML concepts, and cybersecurity basics.
  • Experience is not mandatory, but having worked on hackathons, coding competitions, personal software projects, or using AI/cybersecurity tools will boost your application.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, logical problem‑solving, curiosity, time‑management and a professional attitude are essential.
