Transnet 2026 Young Professional Internship Program

Looking for a Fresh Start in a Big Company?
Transnet is opening a Young Professional‑in‑Training (YPiT) program for 2026. It’s a job for recent graduates in South Africa who want to learn the ropes in Supply Chain Management Compliance. The program runs out of the Transnet Corporate Centre in Johannesburg. The deadline to submit your application is 2 December 2025.


What You’ll Do

If you get in, you’ll join the ISCM – Supply Chain Management Compliance team as a trainee. You’ll work under a Senior Manager in Policy, Standards & Governance. Your day‑to‑day tasks will include:

  • Completing tasks that the department needs
  • Watching senior staff and joining learning sessions
  • Going to meetings and workshops
  • Helping with research and paperwork
  • Acting as the go‑to person when suppliers or customers have questions
  • Talking with team members about what’s required and how things are going
  • Writing clear reports and slide decks with Word and PowerPoint
  • Giving your support to project work

You’ll also learn how the company checks that everything follows rules, does audits, handles money, and keeps legal paperwork up to date.


Who Is Needed

Education
You should have a diploma or a degree in one of the following areas:

  • Auditing
  • Finance
  • Law
  • Supply Chain Management

Experience
You can be brand‑new to the field. Just a few months (0–1 year) of work in auditing, finance, internal controls, supply‑chain, compliance, or legal is enough. If you’ve seen how the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) works or have any idea about public‑sector rules, that’s a plus.

Skills
We’re looking for people who:

  • Can think about the big picture and plan ahead
  • Understand how the business makes money and where it spends
  • Love solving problems and coming up with fresh ideas
  • Know what affects a company inside and outside of it
  • Can tweak existing processes and suggest new ones
