Do you want a stable trade that pays well and is in high demand right now? Steinmüller Africa is opening its 2026 Apprenticeship Programme for Boilermaking and Welding, and the deadline is fast approaching.

What the apprenticeship is

Steinmüller Africa, together with Bilfinger Intervale Africa, will run a three‑year programme near the Kriel Power Station in Mpumalanga. The training mixes classroom learning (accredited by merSETA) with hands‑on work at the plant. Successful learners become Certified Artisans (NQF Level 4) in Boilermaking or Welding.

Who can apply

  • South African citizens aged 35 years or younger
  • Finished Grade 12 with Mathematics (not Mathematical Literacy) and Physical Science, or hold an N2 qualification with relevant subjects
  • Physically and medically fit, with a clear criminal record
  • Live within 50 km of Kriel Power Station or be willing to move to Bethal, Mpumalanga
  • Only candidates classified under Employment Equity (EE) may apply

What you’ll gain

  • At least 36 months of structured, paid apprenticeship training
  • MerSETA‑accredited theory and practical modules
  • On‑the‑job experience under the guidance of mentors and training officers
  • Preparation for a national trade test
