  • Mentoring from qualified engineers and welders.
  • Potential employment in mining, petrochemicals, construction, manufacturing, energy, infrastructure and heavy engineering.

After completing the programme you could work as a qualified welder, fabricator, boilermaker, maintenance technician, welding inspector or supervisor.

How to apply – step‑by‑step

  1. Gather all required documents (see list below).
  2. Scan or take clear photos of each document. Certified copies are accepted.
  3. Compose an email to welderapprentices2026@pdps.co.za. Use the subject line: 2026 Welding Apprenticeship – Application.
  4. In the body of the email, briefly introduce yourself and quote the reference number: 2026 Welding Apprenticeship.
  5. Attach the following files:
    • Updated CV (no manual papers needed).
    • Copy of your South African ID.
    • Copies of all qualifications (report cards, certificates).
    • High‑school results or equivalent.
    • Driver’s licence (if you have one).
    • Recent municipal water/electricity bill showing your address.
    • Additional proof of residence if the bill is not in your name (affidavits, SAPS confirmation, SARS letter, bank statement).
  6. Send the email before the closing date – 17 July 2026.
  7. Wait for a shortlisting email. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview.

Tips to improve your chances

  • Double‑check that you meet the exact qualification criteria; Mathematics Literacy will disqualify you.
  • Make sure your CV is clear, concise (no more than two pages) and highlights any related experience or interest in welding.
  • All documents must be legible; blurry scans are rejected.
  • Submit early – applications received close to the deadline are less likely to be reviewed.
  • Do not send a hard‑copy CV or any unrequested material; only the email with the listed attachments is accepted.
  • Be honest about your residence. Inaccurate information will lead to disqualification.

Final thoughts and next steps

This apprenticeship is a realistic stepping stone into a technical career for unemployed youth who live in the listed areas and meet the education requirements. It does not guarantee a job, but it does give you valuable training and a foot in the door of South Africa’s engineering and manufacturing sectors.

Gather your documents, write a clear email, and send it to welderapprentices2026@pdps.co.za before 17 July 2026. Take the first step today – the skills you learn could shape the rest of your working life.
