Are you a soon‑to‑graduate or fresh graduate looking for a permanent tech role right now? The Sanlam Data, AI and Engineering Academy Accelerated Development Programme 2027 could be your gateway into the financial services industry, and the closing date is fast approaching.

What is the opportunity?

Sanlam is offering a 13‑month Accelerated Development Programme in its Data, AI and Engineering Academy. The programme is based in Bellville, Western Cape, and starts with a permanent contract from day one. You will work on real business problems within the Sanlam Analytics and Group Technology environments.

Who can apply?

You must hold, or be about to finish, a BCom, BSc, BTech or BEng in one of the following fields:

  • Information Technology
  • Computer Science
  • Data Science or Data Analytics
  • Business Intelligence
  • Statistics or Mathematics
  • Finance or Actuarial Science
  • Industrial, Electrical, Chemical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering

Eligible candidates are those who already have the degree or will graduate by the end of 2026. You do not need prior work experience, but you must not have more than 12 months of related professional experience after graduation. Experience gained through work‑integrated learning does not count toward this limit.

What will you gain?

The programme gives you:

  • Permanent employment from the start
  • Market‑aligned benefits and rewards
  • A structured 13‑month development plan
  • Hands‑on experience with enterprise‑level data and technology projects
  • Exposure to financial services, data analytics and cutting‑edge AI tools
  • Opportunities to design, test and launch new capabilities
  • Mentoring from senior Sanlam staff
  • Rotations across IT and business teams
  • Access to hackathons, innovation competitions and technology learning days

How to apply – step by step

  1. Visit the official Sanlam careers portal: Apply here.
  2. Create an account or log in with your existing credentials.
  3. Complete the online application form. Ensure your degree details and expected graduation date are correct.
  4. Upload your CV, academic transcripts and any supporting documents.
  5. Submit the application before 2 October 2026.

Tips to improve your chances

  • Proofread your CV and cover letter. Simple, error‑free language works best.
  • Highlight any projects or coursework that involve data analysis, programming, or engineering.
  • Show enthusiasm for learning new technologies – mention any personal coding or AI experiments.
  • If you have done a work‑integrated learning placement, describe the problem you solved, not just the duration.
  • Ask a mentor or career centre to review your application before you hit submit.

Next steps

Take a moment now to gather your documents and start the online application. The deadline is near, and a permanent role in a leading South African financial group is within reach. Good luck!
