Time is running out to secure financial help for your civil engineering studies. The SPEBS Bursary Programme 2027 is open now, and the deadline is only a few weeks away.

What the opportunity is

The South African Institution of Civil Engineering (SAICE) runs the SAICE Patrons Engineering Bursary Scheme (SPEBS). It offers a partial bursary of up to R7 000 per semester to help cover registration fees, tuition fees and prescribed books. Funding is paid directly to the university or college.

Who can apply

To be eligible you must:

  • Be a South African citizen who has completed Matric.
  • Be enrolled in a recognised, accredited South African tertiary institution.
  • Be studying a Civil Engineering Degree or a Civil Engineering National Diploma.
  • Have a strong academic record and proven financial need.
  • For degree students: have passed your first semester and be entering Year 2, 3 or 4.
  • For diploma students: have passed the first level (S1) and be entering S2, S3 or S4.

What you gain

  • Up to R7 000 per semester to lessen the cost of tuition, registration and books.
