What’s the job?**
Netcare is looking for South African youth who are not currently working to join its Pharmacist Assistant Learnership Programme 2026. This program will train you to work in a hospital pharmacy, giving you real hands‑on experience before you can register as a Basic Pharmacist Assistant with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
Who is Netcare?
Netcare is one of South Africa’s biggest private health groups. They run hospitals, clinics, emergency services and specialist centres all over the country. The focus is on top‑quality care, using modern medical tech and skilled doctors, nurses and pharmacists.
What will you do in the Learnership?
You’ll learn how a hospital pharmacy runs from day to day. A registered pharmacist will supervise you as you do the following tasks:
Stock control
- Take part in regular stock checks and full inventory runs.
- Help order supplies and keep them in good condition.
- Move stock between departments and sell medicines to other clinics when needed.
- Follow Netcare’s rules for managing stock.
- Watch over specific storage areas to make sure everything is tidy.
General duties
- Make sure all activities follow South African Pharmacy Council rules.
- Check on patients who still need medicine.
- Keep records, do paperwork and keep the pharmacy clean.
- Help out with any extra tasks the Pharmacy Manager or pharmacist gives you.
Medication dispensing
- Work with pharmacists to give out prescriptions.
- Pick and pack medicines under supervision.
- Record each item on a patient’s account, following medical aid rules.
- Enter patient data and prescriptions into the Unisolve system.
- Support monthly checks of long‑term medicine supplies.
Minimum requirements
To qualify you need:
- Finished high‑school (Grade 12 or National Senior Certificate).
- Good knowledge of Maths, Physical Science and Life Science.
- Under 35 years old.
- Currently unemployed.
