Who can apply (eligibility)

You must meet every point below to be considered:

  • South African citizen
  • Currently in Matric or have completed Matric
  • Planning to start or already studying a first undergraduate or Honours degree/diploma in 2027
  • Study must be in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, other STEM‑related areas, or a Green Economy skill
  • Enrolled or accepted for full‑time study at a recognised public university or university of technology in South Africa
  • Strong academic record – at least 65% overall in Matric (2026) and in the subjects that count toward the chosen qualification
  • Passed Mathematics in Matric (Mathematics Literacy is not accepted)
  • Demonstrated financial need, assessed by household income
  • If you are under 18, you need written consent from a parent or legal guardian
