Experiential Learner: Monitoring & Evaluation Officer – 2026
The Moses Kotane Research Institute (MKRI) is inviting recent graduates to join a hands‑on learning program. In this role you will help the institute track and analyse research projects, write reports and support decision‑makers with data that drives economic growth in KwaZulu‑Natal.


Why This Position Matters

For 24 months, you will work directly with MKRI’s Monitoring and Evaluation team. The job will strengthen the institute’s ability to use evidence to shape policy and improve projects that support the province’s economy. As an experiential learner, you’ll get paid between R7 000 and R10 000 a month while building skills that are highly sought after in public‑sector research and data work.

What We’re Looking For

  • Education – A Level 6 qualification in Commerce or a related field.
  • Experience – No prior work needed.
  • Computer Skills – Basic ability to use common software.
  • Interest – A passion for gathering and analysing data.
  • Communication – Clear written and spoken English.
  • Extra – A driver’s licence helps but isn’t required.

What You’ll Do

  • Help design templates that track what projects need and what they achieve.
  • Keep an eye on project work, budgets and progress.
  • Visit sites to confirm information and make sure reports are correct.
  • Pull together monthly, quarterly and yearly reports.
  • Study the data to spot trends, problems and lessons that can improve future work.
  • Take care of admin tasks like scheduling, noting meeting minutes and filing documents during M&E activities.
