What Will You Do?

The internship focuses on two main areas: Recruitment and Learning & Development.

Recruitment and Selection

  • Run the hiring process for entry‑level roles and help build a future talent pool.
  • Keep track of applications so every detail is logged correctly.
  • Help with early screening, like checking resumes, organizing tests, and setting up assessments.
  • Make sure candidates follow South African employment laws.
  • Prepare interview schedules and brief both interviewers and candidates before and after the meeting.
  • Record interview feedback and share it with the hiring team.
  • Conduct simple skills tests and personality assessments.
  • Check references to confirm background and experience.
  • Set up interview logistics, such as room booking, travel arrangements, and documentation of new hires, including contracts.
  • Arrange pre‑employment medical checks for new staff.

Learning & Development

  • Build the annual training calendar and coordinate all training events.
  • Register staff for courses and manage payments.
  • Track who attends and share updates with the rest of the HR group.
  • Create attendance sheets, evaluation forms, and send out pre‑work before each training session.
  • Keep learning records accurate and up‑to‑date.
  • Prepare venues for training, ensuring equipment and seating are ready.
  • Assist with reporting for government bodies like SETA, BEE, EE, and WSP/ATR, which track training outcomes and diversity.
  • Help with bursaries by managing payments to colleges and universities.

What Skills Will You Need?

  • You must be a graduate with an Honours Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, or a related field. A Master’s is a plus.
  • You need to be detail‑oriented and able to start tasks without waiting for instructions.
  • Strong organizational skills are essential—you’ll juggle many tasks at once.
  • Good communication is a must; you’ll be talking to candidates, staff, and managers.
  • You should be comfortable using basic office software and keep records accurate.
