What the opportunity is
The Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) creates short‑term jobs for unemployed South Africans. Midvaal is hiring 30 general workers for a two‑year fixed‑term contract. The daily rate is R156.88. Positions are split between:
- Roads and Storm‑Water Section – 20 posts
- Engineering Services Department (Water, Purification & Sewer) – 10 posts

Who can apply
To be eligible you must:
- Have at least a Grade 10 qualification
- Understand and write in English; being bilingual helps
- Live within the Midvaal Local Municipality area
- Be male, aged 18‑35 (youth preference)
- Be unemployed or in the last three months of a contract
- Have 0‑1 year experience in labour‑intensive or general‑worker duties
- Be in good physical health and able to work outdoors in all weather
- Be able to follow instructions and work safely
- Not reside in neighbouring municipalities such as Lesedi, Emfuleni, Ekurhuleni, Johannesburg, Tshwane, Mogale City, West Rand or Sedibeng
