What the internship is

merSETA is a Schedule 3A public entity that supports skills development in manufacturing, engineering, automotive, plastics and related sectors. The programme is a structured, full‑time internship lasting two years. It is based at the head office in Parktown, Johannesburg, with additional posts in regional offices across the country.

Who can apply

To be eligible you must:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be aged 18 – 35
  • Be currently unemployed
  • Never have taken part in an internship programme before
  • Hold a National Diploma, Bachelor’s/ BTech, Honours or higher qualification in a relevant field

What you will gain

  • Monthly stipend – R10 000 (NQF 6), R11 000 (NQF 7) or R12 000 (NQF 8+)
  • Hands‑on experience in areas such as finance, HR, legal, ICT, supply chain, project management and more
  • Exposure to national skills‑development projects
  • Potential pathways into permanent roles in the public or private sector

How to apply (step‑by‑step)

  1. Prepare your updated CV and certified copies of your qualification and ID.
  2. Submit your application before 20 April 2026.
  3. Choose one of the official channels:
