When you start a nursing career now, you can be part of the health workforce that South Africa needs the most. The Limpopo Department of Health is accepting applications for the 2027 intake at the Limpopo College of Nursing, and the deadlines are only a few months away.
What the opportunity is
The College offers two separate online programmes:
- Diploma in Nursing: General (R.171) – three years long.
- Higher Certificate in Auxiliary Nursing (R.169) – one year long.
Both programmes are taught at the Limpopo College of Nursing in Limpopo, South Africa. A non‑refundable administration fee of R150 applies.
Who can apply
You may apply if you meet the following:
- Hold a Matric/NSC or an equivalent qualification.
- Are a South African citizen or have permanent residency.
- Can provide proof of residence and a valid ID document.
- For the R.171 Diploma, Enrolled Nurses employed by the Department must also complete the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) form.
Remember that the two programmes have different application forms, prospectuses, district reference numbers and closing dates.

3. Pay the administration fee
The prospectus for each programme lists the bank details. Upload proof of the R150 payment with your online application.
4. Submit required documents
Attach the following to your online application:
- Completed application form (specific to your programme).
- Completed rating scale.
- Certified copies of Matric/NSC results.
- Proof of residence.
- Valid South African ID.
- If you are an Enrolled Nurse applying for R.171, also attach the RPL form.
Tips to improve your chances
- Read the 2027 prospectus carefully – requirements can change each year.
- Submit all documents before the deadline (R.169: 31 October 2026; R.171: 30 November 2026).
- Pay the fee and keep the receipt; applications without proof of payment are rejected.
- Double‑check that you used the correct district link and reference number.
- If you are employed by the Department, complete the RPL form to avoid delays.
