What the opportunity is

From 25 September to 30 September 2026, eight South African organisations are accepting applications for learnerships, apprenticeships and workplace‑training programmes. The sectors covered include artisan trades, mining, metallurgy, auto‑electrical, engineering and agriculture.

Who can apply

Each programme has its own entry criteria. Most require a Grade 12 (Matric) certificate, while some need additional NQF Level 4 or specific N2 technical subjects. 1. MISA Apprenticeships & Experiential Learnerships 2026/2027

MISA is looking for unemployed youth, graduates and students who need workplace experience.

• Streams: Three‑year artisan apprenticeship or short‑term experiential learnership for graduates

2. Valterra Platinum Engineering Learnerships 2026/2027

Valterra Platinum offers an 18.2 unemployed learnership at its Rustenburg operations.

• Trades: Fitter, Boilermaker, Rigger, Electrician, Instrument Mechanician, Millwright

5. Northam Platinum Booysendal Auto Electrician Learnership (18.2) 2026

• Requirements: Grade 12 or NCV Level 4 plus N2 Mathematics, N2 Engineering Science, N2 Industrial Electronics, N2 Electrical Trade Theory.

6. Senwes Grainlink Learnerships 2026/2027

• Closing date: 30 September 2026
• Location: Various Senwes silos nationwide
• Duration: 12 months
• Benefits: Practical silo operations experience, training to become a Junior Grain Grader, exposure to maize, sunflower and soya handling.
• Requirements: Grade 12, age 18‑25, valid driver’s licence, interest in agriculture or technical work.

Which learnerships you can apply for with just Grade 12?

The Senwes Grainlink Learnership only needs Grade 12, a driver’s licence and the right age range. The Northam Mining Learnership also accepts Grade 12 (or NQF Level 4) plus Mathematics and Physical Science. The Auto Electrician programme, however, asks for additional N2 technical subjects.
