Laingsburg Municipality 2026 Financial Internships – Apply Now

Laingsburg Municipality is hiring financial interns for 2026

If you’re a South African graduate who doesn’t have a job yet, the Laingsburg Municipality is looking for three interns to join its Financial and Compliance Services team. The internship will let you learn how a local government handles its money, work on real projects, and earn a salary of R100 000 a year. All applications must be in hard‑copy and received by 5 January 2026.

What the internship is about

You will be a Financial Management Intern in the Department of Financial and Compliance Services. The role is a paid internship (no extra perks). You’ll get hands‑on experience in many parts of the finance office, including:

  • Following the GRAP guidelines and budget rules that keep the municipality’s money in order.
  • Building and using statistical reports to track spending and income.
  • Writing clear policies that explain how money should be handled.
  • Putting together budgets, financial statements and reports that show where money comes from and where it goes.
  • Matching accounts and checking numbers to spot any mistakes.
  • Keeping a clean record of all financial data.
  • Managing the municipality’s assets and insurance.
  • Taking care of the money that the municipality earns and spends, as well as helping with supply‑chain payments.

You’ll also be ready to help out with any other finance work that comes up.

Who we’re looking for

You need to meet all of these basics:

  • Hold a B.Com degree, a National Diploma, or a similar qualification (Accounting is best).
  • Speak and write well in both Afrikaans and English.
  • Know how to use Microsoft Word and Excel.

Because the job is for a municipal office, we want to see the original, certified copies of your documents. No emails or faxes will be accepted. We will check your qualifications and run a criminal background check. If you have a driver’s licence or a registration certificate, include that too.

You are not allowed to try to persuade council members or the selection team; that could get your application cancelled. If you do not hear from us within three months after the deadline, assume that you were not chosen. The municipality also reserves the right to change the salary or not offer the position at all.

How to apply

  1. Pick up the application form from the Laingsburg Municipal Offices or download it from the city’s website.
  2. Fill it out completely.
  3. Attach a detailed CV and certified copies of all your qualifications and other needed documents.
  4. Hand the package to the Municipal Manager at 2 Van Riebeeck Street, Laingsburg, 6900, or mail it to Private Bag X4, Laingsburg, 6900.

Make sure you finish this before 5 January 2026.

If you’re ready to learn about public finance and want a clear path into a career in accounting, this internship can be a great start.
