If you study automotive, finance, IT, or engineering, you can learn the real world of car parts manufacturing in South Africa’s thriving automotive sector. Through our internship and graduate programmes, you’ll get hands‑on training, rotate between different departments, and receive mentorship from seasoned experts. You’ll learn what it takes to build parts that fit into every car on the road.
How the Programme Works
At Hesto, we want you to do more than just sit in a classroom. The summer is split into a few key parts:
- 11 hours a week of practical work that matches what you studied.
- Regular chances to move from one department to another so you see how every area connects.
- Guidance from experienced mentors who want to see you succeed.
The departments you’ll visit include:
- Operations Management – help keep production running smoothly.
- Finance – learn how money moves in a company.
- Information Technology – keep the computer systems up‑to‑date.
- Human Resources – manage employee growth and compliance.
- Commercial – understand deals, pricing, and contracts.
- Engineering – design and solve technical challenges.
- Organisational Design & Development – shape how the company grows and changes.
After two years, you’ll have a well‑rounded view of the automotive business and ready to take on a full‑time role.

1. Graduate in Training – Operations Management

- Diploma in Operations Management (must have).
- Advanced Diploma in Operations Management (nice to have).
**Your day**:
- Work in our production line.
- Propose ways to make work faster and safer.
- Meet regularly with your manager to see how you’re doing.
2. Graduate in Training – Finance

- B.Com Accounting / Management Accounting / Financial Management degree (must have).
**Your day**:
- Help the finance team with reports and budgets.
- Find ways to improve internal processes.
- Learn how every part of finance fits together.
3. Graduate in Training – Information Technology

- B.Com Computer Science or Information Systems degree (must have).
- Other IT degrees will also be looked at.
**Your day**:
- Support our IT projects.
- Help with troubleshooting and system checks.
- Work on automating simple tasks.
4. Graduate in Training – Human Resources

- Advanced Diploma in HR Management (nice to have).
**Your day**:
- Rotate through HR operations and employee relations.
- Keep HR records up‑to‑date.
- Find ways to improve HR processes.

What You Should Have
All applicants must meet these basic rules:
- Be a South African citizen and at least 18 years old.
- Hold a diploma or degree that matches the role.
- Score at least 60 % overall in your qualification.
- Clear all tuition fees – no money still owed to your university.
- Speak and write English well.
- Send a copy of your official results sheet.
- Have no previous internship or graduate training experience.
- Have no criminal record.
