Harmony Gold Learnership Programme 2026 – Apply by 30 April

Need a solid start in a mining career right now? Harmony Gold is opening its Learnership Programme 2026/2027 for unemployed South African youth.

What the learnership is

Harmony Gold, one of the country’s biggest gold miners, offers a structured learnership in artisan and engineering trades. You will receive classroom training and on‑the‑job experience in the mining sector.

Who can apply

To be eligible you must meet all of the following:

  • Technical Grade 12 or
  • Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science (minimum 50 %) or
  • N2 qualification with the relevant trade theory subjects or
  • NCV Level 4 with Mathematics (minimum 50 %) and related trade theory

Maths Literacy does not count. You also need to provide proof of residence, be medically fit, pass psychometric tests, have good English, work well in a team, be ready for overtime/stand‑by, and follow health‑and‑safety rules.

  • Boilermaker / Plater
  • Fitter

How to apply – step by step

  1. Gather the required documents:
    • Certified copy of South African ID
    • Certified copy of your Matric certificate
    • Certified copies of any other qualifications
    • Updated CV
    • Cover letter
  2. Make sure all documents are certified and complete.
  3. Email your application (documents attached) to DT.Motloung@harmony.co.za before 30 April 2026.
  4. If you are shortlisted, you will be contacted for a medical fitness assessment and an interview.
  5. If you do not hear back within three months after the closing date, assume the application was unsuccessful.

Tips to improve your chances

  • Include any extra qualifications such as an N6 or a Diploma in Engineering Studies.
  • Own a valid driver’s licence and have reliable transport.
  • Show previous training or experience in the trade you are applying for.
  • Write a concise cover letter that highlights your teamwork, safety awareness, and willingness to work overtime.
  • Double‑check that every document is signed and certified – incomplete applications are often rejected.
