What is the Harmony Gold Learnership Programme?
Harmony Gold is one of South Africa’s biggest gold mining and exploration companies. The learnership is a structured training programme that blends classroom learning with hands‑on work on one of the country’s largest mines. You’ll gain real technical skills, understand the mining industry, and finish with a qualification that employers recognise.
Who should apply?
To qualify, you need to meet the following requirements. These are strict because the company wants to ensure everyone is ready for a demanding job in the field.
- Technical Grade 12 or:
- Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science (minimum 50%)
- OR N2 (4 subjects with related trade theory)
- OR NCV Level 4 with Mathematics (minimum 50%) and trade theory
- Maths Literacy is not accepted.
- If you want the Instrumentation trade, you need a full N3 in relevant subjects.
- Proof of residence (for example a municipal statement for water and lights).
- You must be medically fit and submit a Medical Certificate of Fitness.
- You must be willing to take psychometric assessments.
- Good command of English – read, write, and speak.
Nice‑to‑have qualities (but not mandatory)
- N6 or a Diploma in Engineering Studies.
- A relevant qualification in your chosen trade.
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable transport.
- Team‑player attitude and good communication skills.
- Willingness to work overtime and standby when required.
- Knowledge of safety and health protocols.
