What Is the Programme?
Harmony Gold Mining Company Limited is launching internships and Work Integrated Learning (WIL) programmes for students and recent graduates. The internships run for 24 months if you study a core discipline—Mining, Metallurgy, ORM, or Engineering—otherwise 12 months for non‑core fields. P1/P2 students, who need a practical placement to complete their qualifications, also have a chance to work at several Harmony operations.
Who Can Apply?
You must meet all of the following:
- South African citizen under 35 years old.
- Live in one of the specified districts:
- Free State: Lejweleputswa, Matjhabeng, Masilonyana
- North West: City of Matlosana, Ratlou, Moqhaka
- Gauteng: City of Johannesburg, Merafong City, West Rand
- Hold a full tertiary qualification from an accredited South African university or college.
- If applying for an internship, have finished the relevant field of study.
- Have not previously taken part in a similar programme.
- For P1/P2 applicants, provide a recent institutional letter confirming your requirement for the placement.
Successful applicants will also need to pass a medical exam and a security screening.

- Gather the required documents:
- Certified copy of your SA ID.
- Certified copies of your qualifications and transcripts.
- Brief CV.
- Proof of residence (municipal account or affidavit).
- Email your application to interns.WE@Harmony.co.za.
- In the subject line, write the operation, discipline, and your municipality of residence, e.g. Doornkop – Mining Engineering – Matjhabeng.
- Include a cover letter that explains why you’re interested and how you meet the criteria.
- Wait for a response. If you haven’t heard back within 21 days after 27 February 2026, your application was not successful.
