The Department of Employment and Labour is hiring people for a job called Client Service Officer (Post 03/11).

What the job is about
As a Client Service Officer you will be the first person many people see when they need support with unemployment insurance.
Your main tasks include:
- Talking to clients and checking that they meet the rules for benefits.
- Filling out forms for UIF payments and making sure everything is recorded correctly.
- Keeping records tidy and answering questions over the phone or face‑to‑face.
- Helping people understand the policies that affect them.
You will also learn how to use the UIF computer system and follow all the regulations that protect people’s rights.

- Salary: R269 499 a year
- Closing date: 13 February 2026

What you need to qualify
Education – You must have finished high school (Matric or Grade 12).
Knowledge – You should understand:
- The Unemployment Insurance Act and how it works.
- The Unemployment Insurance Contributions Act.
- The Public Finance Management Act.
- The Protection of Personal Information Act.
- Treasury Regulations.
- The Batho Pele Principles.
- UIF policies, goals, and values.
- Basic customer care rules.
Skills – The job requires:
- Good interview and listening abilities.
- Clear written and spoken language.
- Computer use at a basic level.
- Managing time and resolving conflicts.
- Building good relationships with clients.
- Being friendly on the phone.
- The willingness to learn UIF’s software on the job.
