What the opportunity is

Coronation Fund Managers is offering a renewable bursary for the 2027 academic year. It funds full‑time undergraduate studies in commerce‑related fields at a recognised South African university. The funding is paid each year, but you must keep your grades up and stay engaged in your studies.

Who can apply – eligibility

To be considered you must meet all of the following:

  • South African citizen
  • Currently in Matric or already have a Matric certificate
  • Enrolled, or planning to enrol, full‑time in an undergraduate Commerce‑related degree
  • Studying at a recognised and accredited South African university
  • Excellent academic record (see Academic Requirements below)
  • Show leadership potential and be a well‑rounded student

Academic requirements

  • Matric students: minimum overall average of 75 %
  • Current university students: minimum overall average of 70 %

Fields of study covered

The bursary supports the following streams:

  • Data Analysis / IT
  • Commerce
  • Finance
  • Computer Science
  • Software or Computer Engineering

It does not fund N4–N6, higher certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas, master’s or doctoral degrees, distance‑learning programmes, or studies at TVET, community, private, graduate, business schools or overseas universities.

What you gain

  • Full tuition coverage (exact expenses confirmed in the award letter)
  • Renewable funding each year, subject to academic performance, engagement and sponsor budgets
  • After graduation you will sign a work‑back contract: one year of work for each year of funding received

Preference criteria

Those who fit the following will be prioritised:

  • Students from previously disadvantaged backgrounds
  • Applicants who align with the sponsor’s transformation and employment‑equity goals
  • Students in their second year of study or higher
  • Students on track to finish within the normal time (no N+1 or higher)
  • Applicants in the preferred fields listed above

How to apply – step‑by‑step

  4. Upload each document as a single PDF file (combine where necessary).

Applicants with a disability must also submit:

  • Department of Labour Employment Equity Act EEA1 form
  • Doctor’s letter confirming the disability
