What the opportunity is
The City of Johannesburg is offering a structured internship in its Human Settlements Department. The placement is in Johannesburg, Gauteng and runs for up to 18 months. Applications close on 08 May 2026. The role is based in the Executive Director’s Office and gives you exposure to administration, research and strategic planning.
Stipend
- R10 109.86 per month if you have completed a qualification (minimum 360 credits).
- R4 951.88 per month if you are still studying.
Who can apply
You must meet all of the following:
- Matric (Grade 12) qualification.
- A degree (NQF Level 6 or 7) in Business Management, Business Administration, Journalism, Media, Public Administration or Public Management.
- Residence within the City of Johannesburg.
- Not having done a similar internship before (unless it was in a different field).

Key responsibilities
Administrative support
- Office administration, filing and document management.

- Participate in strategic planning sessions.
Risk & compliance

Programme & event coordination
- Assist with programme implementation and event logistics.
