South African graduates, the CIPC Graduate Internship Programme is open for 2026 – and the deadline is only a few weeks away.
What is the internship?
The Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) is offering two graduate‑internship streams at its Sunnyside office in Pretoria, Gauteng. Each position pays a monthly stipend of R12 000. The internships run for either 12 months or 24 months, depending on the role.
Who can apply?
- South African citizen
- Age 18 – 35
- Unemployed and without relevant work experience
- Holds a recognised qualification (no previous government internship)
- Available for interview when asked

- Gather the required documents:

- Innovation and Collaboration – CV, ID, academic transcript, qualification certificate (combine all into one PDF)
- Visit the CIPC e‑recruit portal.
- Select the correct reference number for the stream you want:
- Strategic Communication – CIP260703-1
- Innovation and Collaboration – CIP260702-1
- Upload the single PDF (Innovation) or the separate files (Strategic). Ensure every required file is attached – missing documents lead to automatic disqualification.
- Submit the application before the closing date for your stream.
Tips to improve your chances
- Check that foreign qualifications are SAQA‑evaluated before you apply.
- Make sure your aggregate is at least 75 % for the Innovation stream and that you have participated in a hackathon.
- Proofread your CV and ensure your ID number matches your citizenship details.
- Apply early – the portal closes on 13 July 2026 for Innovation and 16 July 2026 for Strategic Communication.
- Only the online system is accepted; no fax, email, post or hand‑delivered applications will be considered.
