Beaufort West Municipality: 2026 Building Control Internship

The Building Control Internship Programme 2026 is a 12‑month job that gives you hands‑on experience in how a city plans and checks buildings. It’s a chance to learn from real projects, earn a monthly stipend of R4 500, and add solid work experience to your résumé. The programme is being run by the Beaufort West Municipality and only five spots are available. If you’re 20–40 years old, live in the Beaufort West area, and are currently without a job, you might be the right fit.

When do you need to act?

  • The deadline is Tuesday, 30 January 2026 at noon.
  • Applications that arrive after that time will not be considered.
  • If you do not hear from the municipality within a month of the deadline, your application is likely not successful.

What will you get?

  • A steady pay of R4 500 every month for the whole year.
  • A chance to work in the Infrastructure Services division of the city, learning about planning, design, and how building rules are checked.
  • A certificate that says you passed a short written test and that you’re officially a Building Control Intern for the year.

Who can apply?
To qualify, you need a National Diploma in one of the following areas, or any civil or building related subject that is at least a Grade 12 level:

  • Civil Engineering
  • Town Planning
  • Building Science
  • N5 Building

You also must:

  • Be a clean‑record citizen (SAPS clearance).
  • Be between 20 and 40 years old.
  • Be unemployed and live inside the municipal boundaries. Bring a letter from your local ward councillor or a SAPS address confirmation.
  • Hold a valid South African ID (certified copy).

The application has to be on the official municipal form and include a cover letter, certified copies of your qualifications, and a certified copy of your ID. Once you’re shortlisted, you’ll need to submit a stamped SAPS vetting certificate. If you forget any of these documents, you could be disqualified.

How to submit your application
You have two options:

  1. Hand delivery – drop it off at the HR Department, Sanlam Building, Corporate Services, 112 Donkin Street.
  2. Email – send your application to erecruit@beaufortwestmun.co.za. (This is the only email that will be accepted.)

When you write your cover letter, title it “BUILDING CONTROL INTERNS 2026” so it’s easy to spot.

Why consider this internship?
If you’re looking to jump into a career in construction, planning or anything that involves buildings, this program is a good start. You’ll get to see how city regulations work, learn to read blueprints, and practice checking building plans for safety and compliance. All of that hands‑on work is valuable when you later look for a full‑time job in the industry.

The municipality hopes to find enthusiastic young people who are ready to learn and help keep the city’s buildings safe and well‑planned. If you’re ready to take on a real‑world role and get paid while you learn, this internship might be the perfect next step.
