What the bursary is

The Afrimat Nkomati Anthracite Bursary Programme 2027 supports students who are studying for a National Diploma, BTech or Bachelor’s Degree. It is open to any recognised South African higher‑education institution.

  • Study one of these fields: Chemistry, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Mining Engineering.
  • Be registered at a recognised and accredited South African university or college.
  • Have an overall academic average of at least 60%.

Community preference

Applicants from the Mawewe, Matsamo and Lugedlane communities will be given priority, but students from other areas are also welcome to apply.

What you gain

The bursary covers tuition fees and may include other study‑related costs, helping you focus on your coursework without financial stress.

How to apply – step by step

  1. Gather the required documents:
    • Certified copy of your ID
    • Certified academic transcript and/or qualification certificates
    • Proof of registration at an accredited South African institution
    • Proof of residence issued by the relevant Tribal Office
    • Current CV
  2. Combine all documents into a single PDF file. The file must be clear and must not exceed 3 MB.
  3. Visit the official application page: Apply for the Afrimat Nkomati Anthracite Bursary Programme 2027.
  4. Complete every field in the online form. Upload the combined PDF when prompted.
  5. Check that all information is correct, then submit before the deadline.

Tips to improve your chances

  • Double‑check that your transcript clearly shows a 60 % average or higher.
  • Make sure your proof of residence is stamped and recent.
  • Keep the PDF under 3 MB by compressing images without losing legibility.
  • Proofread your CV and personal details for typos.
  • Submit early; waiting until the last day can cause technical issues.

The application window closes on 23 August 2026. After you submit, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. If you do not hear back, you were not selected this time.

For any questions, call 021 917 8840 or email info@afrimat.co.za. Remember, the email is for enquiries only – do not send your application there unless instructed.
