In 2026, SAFCOL will run a learnership that teaches you everything from tree planting to cutting and processing timber. You’ll get a formal certificate, a monthly allowance, and a chance to work with experienced people in a green industry that helps the planet and the economy.

What is SAFCOL?

SAFCOL is a government‑owned company that takes care of South Africa’s commercial forests. From planting new trees to cutting them down and turning them into useful wood, SAFCOL manages the whole process. The company is part of the green economy and wants to give young people the chance to build a solid career in this field.

The Learnership Programs Available (2026)

SAFCOL offers three training tracks that are recognized by the National Qualifications Framework (NQF). The levels show how deep the learning will be:

  1. Mechanised Harvesting – Level 3 – Learn how to use machines to cut down and move trees safely.
