Plant Production Learnership – A New Path for Young People in Mogale City

The Mogale City Local Municipality in Krugersdorp, Gauteng, is opening 25 spots in a 12‑month Plant Production Learnership for young, unemployed residents aged 18 to 35. This program gives you a chance to learn real skills in farming, tourism, the environment, and gardening. You’ll get paid R2 000 each month, and by the end of the year you’ll hold a recognised qualification that can help you find a job or start your own small business.

Who Can Apply?

  4. No criminal record – a clean background check is required.
  5. Not already in another SETA (Sector Education and Training Authority) program or receiving NSFAS (National Student Financial Aid Scheme) funding.
  6. Applicants who already hold a National Certificate Level 6 or higher (N6) should not apply for this level 3 learnership.

Special attention is given to people who are previously disadvantaged or have a disability. Women and disabled applicants are strongly encouraged to join.

What You Will Receive

  • A R2 000 per month stipend paid by the Training Services Provider.
  • A 12‑month learning period that is non‑renewable. Once the program ends, you will hold a formal qualification.
  • A Plant Production Learnership (NQF Level 3, ID 49052) – a certificate that covers agriculture, tourism, environmental studies, and horticulture.

How to Apply

Steps:

  1. Write a brief letter that explains why you want the learnership and which part of the program interests you the most.

  4. Ask your ward councillor for a letter confirming that you live in the municipality. It must be stamped.
  5. Prepare copies of all your qualifications (make sure they are not older than six months).
