There’s a real chance right now to start a career in pharmacy without paying tuition – the Clicks Group Pharmacy Assistant Learnership 2026/2027 is open for South African youth who want practical training and a qualified role after completion.

What the Learnership Is

Clicks Group, through its Unicare brand, is offering a paid learnership that blends on‑the‑job training with formal coursework. You will train at a registered Unicare pharmacy in Cape Town, Western Cape, under an approved tutor and a registered pharmacist. The programme runs for the 2026/2027 period and ends with a qualification as a Pharmacist Assistant.

Who Can Apply (Eligibility)

You must have a National Senior Certificate (Matric) with the following results:

  • At least 50 % in Mathematics or 60 % in Mathematical Literacy
  • At least 50 % in English
  • A pass in Life Sciences (Biology) or Physics

The learnership is open to South African citizens or permanent residents who are ready to begin full‑time training in Cape Town.

What You Will Gain

Successful learners receive a salary while studying, a nationally recognised qualification, and a clear pathway into a permanent role. After you qualify you must sign a work‑back agreement – you will work for Unicare as a Pharmacist Assistant for a period equal to the length of your learnership.

During the programme you will be expected to:

  • Complete the Learnership Training Contract
  • Train at a registered Unicare pharmacy under an approved tutor
  • Attend all scheduled training sessions
  • Pass competency assessments and submit a Portfolio of Evidence
  • Support the pharmacy team and work under a registered pharmacist
