CGE Internships 2026: 24-Month Graduate Opportunities in Gauteng

The Commission for Gender Equality (CGE) is offering a 2026 graduate internship programme that could launch your career in public service right now.

What the opportunity is

CGE is looking for South African graduates to join a 24‑month paid internship. The roles are based in Johannesburg and Pretoria, Gauteng, and cover five areas:

• Policy & Research
• Legal Services
• Human Resources
• Public Education & Information
• Monitoring & Evaluation

Interns receive a monthly stipend of R7 500–R8 500.

Who can apply (eligibility)

• South African citizen
• Graduate with the relevant NQF Level 7 qualification (or Honours/Master’s for Monitoring & Evaluation)
• Never participated in an internship programme before
• Must be able to travel/relocate to the assigned centre (Johannesburg or Pretoria)

Specific qualification details per stream are:

Policy & Research – Johannesburg

• MA in Social Sciences or related discipline
• Valid driver’s licence
• Strong analytical, report‑writing and Microsoft Office skills

Legal – Johannesburg

• LLB, BA Law or BCom Law
• Legal research and drafting ability
• High attention to detail and confidentiality

Human Resources – Johannesburg

• Degree (NQF 7) in HR Management, Industrial Psychology or equivalent
• Knowledge of BCEA, LRA, EEA and OHSA
• Good communication and computer literacy

Public Education & Information – Pretoria

• Degree (NQF 7) in Social Sciences, Humanities, Gender Studies, Education or similar
• Microsoft Office proficiency and digital communication skills

Monitoring & Evaluation – Johannesburg

• Bachelor’s (NQF 7) or Honours/Master’s in Monitoring & Evaluation, Statistics, Public Administration, Information Management, Social Sciences, etc.
• Advanced skills in Word, Access, Excel, MS Project, Power BI, PowerPoint and Outlook
