Time is short – the Department of Defence is accepting applications for Vetting Session Workers, and the deadline closes on 24 July 2026 at 16:00. This is a real chance to start a paid, two‑year contract in Pretoria’s Defence Intelligence Division.

What the opportunity is

The Defence Intelligence Division needs five freelancers to work as Vetting Session Workers. The posts are on a fixed two‑year contract. You will earn R214.92 per hour for up to 180 hours each month. The work is based at the Defence Intelligence Division, Pretoria, Gauteng.

Who can apply (requirements and eligibility)

Education

  • Minimum Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent, or
  • Diploma, Advanced Certificate or National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in a Humanities field such as Social Sciences, Psychology, Counselling, Investigation, Social Work, Criminology, or a related qualification.

Experience

  • At least 1 year of experience in administration or client interaction, or
  • At least 1 year of field investigation or evaluation experience, plus a valid driving licence and your own vehicle.

  • Computer literacy and ability to operate standard software
  • Good verbal and written communication
  • Report writing and listening skills
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work with people
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving and reasoning abilities
  • Knowledge of vetting fieldwork, data capture and information collection
