Time is running out to join the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (dtic) Internship Programme 2026/28. The deadline closes on 06 May 2026, and the placement is in Pretoria’s Sunnyside office.

What the internship offers

The dtic is running a 24‑month paid internship from 01 July 2026 to 30 June 2028. It is aimed at unemployed South African graduates who want real‑world experience in public‑sector work and a chance to help shape a competitive South African economy.

Who can apply

  • South African citizens who are currently unemployed
  • Graduates with a NQF Level 6 qualification or higher
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Professionalism, integrity and attention to detail

How to apply – step by step

  1. Prepare a signed new Z83 Form (download from www.gov.za/documents).
  2. Write a detailed CV that lists your final‑year modules or subjects.
  3. Choose one of the three submission methods:
    • Email: Send your documents to intern2026@thedtic.gov.za. Put the field of study in the subject line, e.g. “Intern2026 – Public Management”.
    • Post: Address to The Director: Human Resources Management, Private Bag X84, Pretoria, 0001.
    • Hand delivery: Drop the package at dtic Campus, Corner of Meintjies and Robert Sobukwe Streets, Sunnyside, Pretoria.
  4. Wait for a response. If you hear nothing within three months, your application has not been successful.
