SASSA Grants & Debt Management Internships 2026 – Apply 17 April

SASSA is calling on unemployed South African graduates to apply for the Grants Administration & Debt Management Internship Programme 2026. The deadline is 17 April 2026, and the posts are based in the Free State.

What the internship is

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) is offering 93 contract internships at Grade 05 level. The internship lasts 12 months and gives you practical experience in public service, especially in social grants administration and financial compliance.

Who can apply

  • South African citizen
  • Graduate with an NQF Level 6 (360‑credit) qualification in one of these areas:
    • Business Management
    • Public Administration
    • Financial Management
    • Accounting
    • IT / Computer Science
    • Marketing
    • Social Sciences
  • Basic computer skills
  • Willing to pass background checks and competency assessments

Internship streams

1. Grants Administration (80 posts)

Focus: front‑line service delivery and grant processing.

Key duties

  • Help clients with grant applications
  • Manage queues and service processes
  • Capture biometric and digital data
  • Keep beneficiary records up to date
  • Support digitisation and automation
  • Assist with reporting and compliance

  • Thabo Mofutsanyana – Bethlehem, Harrismith, Ficksburg, etc.
  • Lejweleputswa – Welkom, Thabong, Bothaville

  • Xhariep – Zastron, Trompsburg, Koffiefontein

2. Debt Management (13 posts)

Focus: financial administration and compliance.

Key duties

  • Reconcile and track debts
  • Monitor payments and calculate interest
  • Communicate with debtors
  • Prepare reports and documentation
  • Support financial recovery processes

  1. Download the New Z83 form from the SASSA website.
  2. Complete the form carefully. Use a separate form for each post you apply for.
  3. Prepare an up‑to‑date CV.
  4. Get certified copies of your ID and qualifications.
  5. Send the complete package to one of the addresses below **or** hand‑deliver it at the nearest Free State SASSA office.
  6. Make sure you write the reference number and the specific position on the envelope.
