Ga-Segonyana Local Municipality 2026 EPWP Youth Career Opportunities

The Ga‑Segonyana Local Municipality has just opened a new job hunt for young people who just finished university. The EPWP Youth Graduate Work Opportunities program is looking for 50 fresh graduates in the area who want to start their first job. This is a 6‑month paid assignment that will give you real experience while helping your community keep its environment clean and safe.

Why does this matter? The job is a partnership between the municipality and the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE). Together they want to tackle waste, protect local wildlife, and make sure workplaces are safe for everyone. If you care about the planet and want to learn practical skills, this is a good chance to jump into a role that matters.

Which jobs are available?

If you get in, you could work as one of these three positions:

  • Climate Change Ambassadors – help spread knowledge about how to reduce greenhouse gases and adapt to weather changes.
  • Waste Campaigners – coordinate clean‑up events, recycling programs, and public education on proper waste disposal.
  • Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Compliance Officers – make sure local businesses follow safety rules and protect workers from hazards.

Each role is meant for students who already studied subjects like environmental science, public health, or engineering, but you can apply even if you only studied a different subject and you’re eager to learn.

How long and how much money?

  • Duration – 6 months.
  • Stipend – R247 per day (about a little over 15 USD).

The program gives you a steady paycheck while you learn on the job.
