Shoprite 2026 Bursary Program – Secure Your Future Today

Shoprite Bursary Programme 2026 – A Chance for South African Students

Are you a student in South Africa who dreams of a career in accounting, agriculture, retail, or logistics? The Shoprite Group, the biggest food retailer on the continent, has a special offer for you. They are launching the Shoprite Bursary Programme 2026 to help talented students pay for their studies and start a future career in one of the most powerful retail companies in Africa. If you are studying in one of the four key areas mentioned below and need financial help, you should check out this opportunity.

About the Company – Shoprite Group

Shoprite was founded in 1979. It began with eight supermarkets in Cape Town and now runs more than 270 stores in 16 African countries plus the Indian Ocean Islands. The group owns almost 2,000 corporate stores such as Shoprite, Checkers, OK Furniture, Hungry Lion, and Usave, and also runs 367 franchise stores in South Africa and Namibia.

What the 2026 Bursaries Cover

Shoprite is offering money to cover tuition, required books, and an accommodation allowance. The value of each bursary varies from R30,000 to R60,000 depending on your field and university. The fields that are supported are:

  • Accounting (CA Stream – SAICA) – 10 bursaries
  • Biological and Agricultural Sciences – 10 bursaries
  • Retail Business Management – 60 bursaries
  • Supply Chain & Logistics – 10 bursaries

Working for Shoprite After Graduation

If you receive a bursary, you will have to work for Shoprite once you finish your studies. The rule is simple: for every year of money you get, you must work for one year. After you graduate, you can join the Finance team (for accounting), the Fresh Foods division (for agriculture), a retail management role, or a logistics and supply chain position. Each of these paths can lead to a long career at Shoprite and the chance to move up into leadership or specialist roles.
