What You Need to Apply

  • South African citizen
  • Speak at least two official languages, one of them English
  • No criminal record or pending cases
  • Pass a vetting check, security screening, and fingerprint test
  • Finished Grade 10 (Standard 8) or NQF Level 3
  • Registered with the Police Service Insurance and Risk Association (PSIRA)
  • Hold a Grade C Security Certificate or higher
  • Fit to own and handle a firearm – and ready for training

Bonus points if you have:

  • A degree or diploma in security or a related field
  • Extra security courses on your resume
  • A valid driver’s licence for a light motor vehicle

What You’ll Do

As a Security Officer you’ll:

  • Control who enters police premises and vehicles, following the Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicles Act
  • Check IDs for staff, visitors, and contractors
  • Log everyone who comes in and scan them with a computer system
  • Issue and manage visitor access cards
  • Keep an eye on vehicles and special equipment
  • Patrol buildings and fenced zones regularly
  • Watch security cameras and flag any problems
  • Oversee cleaning and maintenance teams from a security viewpoint
  • Report any risks or incidents to higher‑up officers

These tasks keep the police stations safe and running smoothly.
