Looking for a chance to pay for university without breaking the bank? The Ingquza Hill Local Municipality in Flagstaff, Eastern Cape, is offering 20 bursaries for 2026. Who is Ingquza Hill Local Municipality?

These bursaries are for people who want to do an undergraduate degree in these subjects:
- Civil and Building Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Financial Accounting (CA)
- Information Communication Technology (ICT)
- Maritime Studies
- Town and Regional Planning
Even if you want to study something else, people from low‑income families are welcomed to apply.
Who can apply?
You must satisfy all of the following rules to be considered:
- Be 18 to 35 years old.
- Live inside the Ingquza Hill area.
- Have passed your matric exams.
- Plan to start a university degree in 2026.
- Have already been accepted or are waiting for a place at a South African university that is recognised and accredited.
- Meet that university’s academic criteria.
- Come from a family that earns no more than R350 000 a year.
- Read and agree to the bursary rules.
- Students who are from very low‑income families can also apply.
Missing any one of these conditions can mean your application won’t be accepted.
How are winners chosen?
After the closing date, the municipality will look through all the applications. If you are selected, the Municipal Manager will contact you within three months. If you don’t hear back within that time, it means you were not chosen.
What documents do I need?
There is no form to fill out. Send clear copies of the following items by post:
- Application letter: Signed, addressed to the Municipal Manager, and stamped by your Ward Councillor.
- Matric final results or certificate
- Letter of admission or provisional acceptance: From the university you plan to attend.
- Fee quotation: Includes registration, accommodation, and required books if you’re already a student.
- Proof of household income: The most recent payslips if you’re employed; an affidavit if you’re not; or a certified SASSA grant statement if you receive one.
- Proof of residence: Show that you live in Ingquza Hill.
