The KwaZulu‑Natal Department of Social Development is looking for fresh, unemployed graduates to join its 2025/2026 Internship Programme. This one‑year placement will give you real workplace experience, help you build a strong CV, and improve your chances of landing a permanent job after you finish the internship.
What the internship offers
- Contract length: 12 months
- Monthly allowance: R6 000
- Where you’ll work: Head office in Pietermaritzburg and various district offices across KwaZulu‑Natal
- Applications close: 12 December 2025
Who can apply?
You must meet the following requirements:
- Be a graduate who does not currently have a job and lives in KwaZulu‑Natal.
- Hold a 3‑year degree or national diploma from an accredited university or university of technology.
- Not have taken part in any government internship before (national, provincial, or local).
- Know how to use a computer.
- Be ready for a formal interview.
- Be willing to move to a district office if that’s where you are placed.

What paperwork do you need to send?
- A signed Z83 form (available from any Public Service Department).
- A detailed CV that lists your contact numbers and both home and post‑mail addresses.
- Certified copies of your ID, matric certificate, and all university qualifications and transcripts.
- Proof that you live in KwaZulu‑Natal (and in the specific district if you want to work there).
- Proof that you have never taken a government internship before (if the job ad asks for it).
Missing any of these documents will mean your application will not be looked at.

- The business unit you want to join.
- The correct reference number (for example, CD1/2025/26).
- The location you would like to be posted (head office or a specific district).
Late applications, faxes or e‑mails will not be accepted. Only candidates who pass the short‑list will be called for the next stage. If you haven’t heard back within three months after the closing date, it means your application was not successful.
