Transnet 2025 Young Professional Internship – Start Your Career

What’s the job?**
Transnet Freight Rail is looking for fresh university graduates who aren’t working right now. They want you to join their Young Professional-in-Training Programme 2025 (job numbers req3808 & req3807). The program lasts two years and will help you learn the skills you need for a career in the rail industry. The training will start in Kilner Park, Pretoria.

What the program does for you

This is a two‑year path that mixes classroom learning, real work and guidance from more experienced staff. Every six months you’ll receive coaching that checks how you’re doing and shows you how to keep improving. You’ll also get to see many parts of Transnet Freight Rail, so you can find out where you fit best. The plan is made just for you so you build the skills you need to get a job in this company later on.

They are looking for people who finished a bachelor’s degree that is at least an NQF Level 7. Your university must be DHET registered – that means it is a university, a university of technology or a TVET college in South Africa.


1️⃣ Young Professional‑in‑Training (req3808)

What you need to qualify

  • Degree in Computer Science, Statistics or Mathematics, or something close to those subjects.
  • No work experience is necessary – it’s okay if you’re brand new to the job world.
  • You must be a South African citizen.

2️⃣ Young Professional‑in‑Training (req3807)

What you need to qualify

  • Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
  • No previous work experience required.
  • Only South African citizens can apply.

What you’ll do in the program

  • Take part in a 24‑month training schedule that mixes learning and real work.
  • Move around different depots and departments to see what each area does.
  • Get evaluated every six months to track your progress.
