1. SAPS Academy Philippi – 16 security posts

Job details

You’ll guard the training centre, watching over students, staff and any visitors. Your day will involve checking IDs, controlling who can enter, and making sure the property stays safe.

What you need

  • South African citizenship
  • Finished Grade 10 (or equivalent)
  • Speak at least two official languages, one of them English
  • No criminal record and no ongoing cases
  • PSIRA Grade C or better, and ready to keep that certification updated
  • Fit to work in a security setting – both physically and mentally
  • Willing to take firearms training and keep that skill sharp
  • Open to shift work, weekends and extra hours
  • Ready for a background check and fingerprinting

Nice to have

  • A degree or diploma in security or a related field
  • Extra security courses you’ve taken
  • A valid light motor vehicle driver’s licence

Main responsibilities

  • Control who enters and leaves the premises
  • Register and keep a record of visitors and staff
  • Search people and items when needed (using checks or scanners)
  • Issue visitor passes and keep the register up to date
  • Inspect deliveries, packages, and suppliers before they come in
  • Patrol the buildings, yards and fences
  • Guard vehicles and equipment from theft or damage
  • Check all security gear and report any faults

What you need

  • Same as the Philippi post: South African citizen, Grade 10, two languages, no criminal record, PSIRA Grade C+, fit, ready for firearms training, shift work, vetting and fingerprint checks.

Main responsibilities

  • Manage access for vehicles, staff, visitors, suppliers and contractors
  • Register and scan people and items when needed
  • Protect uniforms, assets and vehicles from theft or damage
  • Patrol buildings, warehouses, yards and fenced areas
  • Check gates, locks, alarms and other security gear
  • Report suspicious activity or any problems to senior security staff
